Yard Waste Disposal Ban Starts January 1, 2011

There will be a ban on the disposal of yard waste for the Kent and Sussex County landfills starting January 1, 2011.  Yard waste must be separated from trash and taken to an approved yard waste collection or composting facility.  DSWA will still accept source separated yard waste that will be placed in a separate place for recycling.  A complete list of DNREC appoved yard waste composting facilities can be found here.  Contact your waste hauler for collection options if your unable to bring yard waste to an approved facility. 

Blue Hen Organics accepts yard waste from homeowners, landscapers, and commercial waste haulers at their Frankford composting facility for $20/ton with a $5 minimum.  For more information, call (302) 732-3211.
